ASOS is a British online fashion warehouse. It sells clothing from all kinds of brands, but also produces its own, known as ASOS Design. The company states that it wants ASOS to lead the way when it comes to tackling climate change. But for now, that is not the case. With only 36% of materials originating from more sustainable sources, it is unclear where most of the materials for its garments originate. The fashion brand does track its carbon emissions, but while the intensity is decreasing, the company is growing and total emissions are growing with it. There are some steps being made though. ASOS Design runs partially on renewable energy and it has set carbon reduction targets. Overall, the ambition is there, but real ambitious action has yet to be taken.
